Racton Ruins

Mum thought it would be a good idea to go and explore Racton Ruins, we pass it all the time as it's not very far from us but Mum had never been there, so off we headed.
It started to rain and was very windy but by the time we reached the ruin it was brilliant sunshine again.

Mum wasnt kidding when she said it was a ruin, Dad jumped down inside it and of course me and Winston just had to follow him!

It's supposed to be haunted and I thought it looked really spooky in the daytime so it must be really scary at nightime, don't fancy going there in the dark that's for sure!!!

We left the ruin and walked along the bridlepath. All of a sudden a white van came steaming down behind us, we all jumped out of the way. As the van went past I saw it had a trailer on the back..... In the trailer there were sheep, mmmmm meals on wheels as far as I was concerned and I went running full speed after the van. Mum and Dad were shouting after me but I wasnt stopping (training, what training??) Then I heard the really loud THUNDER whistle which I know means its mega serious that I get back to Mum and Dad and I did return, even though I really wanted to get to the trailer.
Mum, the spoilsport, then put me on the lead despite me promising (with my toes crossed) that I wasnt going to go and help the man unload his sheep from the trailer. I'd make a cracking sheep dog honest!

Winston, as always, picked up a stick. He took it off into a field and had what can only be described as a nutty 5 minutes playing with it, he did have fun and Mum and Dad were really laughing at his antics. He did stop for a second and looked at them as if to say 'what you laughing at?'

There were lots of interesting smells so I decided to do a spot of hunting and went tracking off through the undergrowth.

Glad Mum and Dad decided to explore the ruins, it was a good walk with lots of interesting stuff to keep a Vizsla occupied :-)

Trying Mum n Dad's patience.........

Me n Winston were pickles yesterday and nearly drove Mum n Dad mad.

First offence:
We came back from our lunchtime walk and as usual sat at our back gate waiting for Mum to open it. She opened the gate, I dutifully went into the garden, mmm not our Winston he belted at full speed off up the road. Mum shut me in the garden and headed off to find him. He was being really naughty and completely ignored her, he was running around in circles sniffing everywhere. Eventually he came back. Mum forgave him as sometimes his epilepsy makes him do silly things.

Second offence:
Mum wanted to go to the Holt to see the bluebells. Dad brought his camera as Mum wanted him to take some nice pictures of us dogs amongst the bluebells. We didnt cooperate and Dad only managed to get these couple of iffy shots:

Third offence:
I went running off through the bluebells and then found the most amazing pile of stinky fox poo! All mum could see was my four paws waving in the air as I was grinding the smelly poo all over my fur. Truly this was the best poo I have ever found and the stench was just like raw sewerage, awesome! I refused point blank to stop despite Mum whistling and all sorts. Mum turned green when I came running back to her the smell was so bad. Dad said there was no way I was getting back in the car and that Mum would have to walk me home, despite it being 5 miles!

Fourth offence:
Winston was doing his usual stick thing, he came running past Mum at full speed and cracked the stick really hard against the back of her legs. Mum didnt half say some naughty words, I was shocked. As she was hobbling quite badly Dad relented on the whole walking home bit and said we would all drive home together.
The stick in question.........

Even though we had the all the windows open in the car on the way home Mum and Dad were still a strange shade of green.
Mum tried her hardest to clean all the poo off of me but it just wasnt working as I'd ground it in good and proper.
They decided the only way to deal with this was to take us down to the beach and hope the seawater got rid of the smell.
So yet another stinky car journey. They spent ages throwing tennis balls into the sea for me to fetch, and I was only too happy to oblige.

Fifth offence (yes there's more!)
Arrived back home, Dad was trying to reverse the car into a parking space outside our house but me and Winston were messing around so much in the back of the car that he couldnt see and lost his patience with us! Mum got us out of the car and expected us to sit on the front doorstep like we usually do while Dad parked. Oh no Winston was having none of that and ran back to the car and started circling it like a beast possessed, he was in the road and everything, I couldn't understand what he was doing so went and joined in. Mum was livid, we both ignored her big time. Dad left the car where it was in the middle of the road, helped Mum round us up and then we were dragged inside.

At this point with both Mum and Dad having steam coming out of their ears and very very cross looks on their faces me and Winston decided that we had better just lay down very quietly on our beds and not move.

Have we been forgiven............... the jury is still out on that one.

Winston's Ouchie

Dad took us to Langstone Harbour today, we had a wicked fun time splashing around in the water.
Poor Winston though has sliced his pad :-(, Dad noticed blood on the floor when we got home but Winston is such a mummy's boy he wouldn't let Dad look at it. We had to wait for Mum to come home from work and she's sorted it all out.
It's all bandaged up and Winston gets to wear one of Dad's old socks too.
Can a Labrador look more hard done by than Winston in the picture below.....

Beware! Car hijackers are about

Mum had an email from a friend of hers and she told me I should warn everybody out there.

Her friend, Alison, was getting ready to load her car up with some rubbish to take to the tip. She left her boot open and turned her back for only a minute when the car hijackers struck, see below:

So be on your guard of these two dodgy characters they are operating in the Farlington area of Portsmouth!!!

Hehehe, just too good not to share. The pair are Jethro and Tetley, mates of mine and obviously didnt want to miss out on a potential car journey.

The Holt, Rowlands Castle

Dad took us to a new place today, The Holt at Rowlands Castle, we had a proper explore and run around. I flushed bunnies, pheasants and deer. Winston found loads of lovely sticks to drag along too.

This is Mum's favourite picture of me, kind of sums up how much fun we had!

Havant Thicket

Mum took us to Havant Thicket today. The weather was lovely and sunny and really quite warm.

Our walks are a bit different now as Mum makes me practise all my gundog training homework, it's really good fun and I enjoy it. Winston does some of the training too, he is much steadier than me with the obedience stuff so Mum says he's a good influence on me.

Here's us practising our sit and waits, we've got this one nailed.

My recall has always been really good but we still practise it loads, here's me on my way back to Mum.

We did have a bit of drama whilst we were up the thicket though. We'd seen a couple of policemen walking around and also a couple of policemen on pushbikes. Then the police helicopter turned up, it was circling overhead for ages. Then Mum started to get paranoid as it was following us. It came in really low and close, me and Winston stopped and had a good look at it despite the noise it was making. Then it started sweeping over the woods next to the path, Mum decided it was probably best that we moved away from that area pretty quickly as somebody must have been up to no good.

We found out later that the police were looking for two boys who had set fire to part of the thicket.

We had big snoozes in our favourite sun trap in the kitchen when we got home.

Field Trial Fun Day

Had a great fun time today, me and my girlfriend Willow (swoon swoon) went to a Field Trial Fun Day at West Meon.

When we arrived we raced round the field like complete loonies, we love running together.

There were loads of HPRs there but mainly Weimaraners as it was organised by their club but there were quite a few Vizzies, GSP, Spinones and Braccos.

The weather was ok to start with but we did get quite a few rain showers and just at the end there was a horrid hail storm, we were right out in the middle of the field so nowhere to hide, mum did stand over me but the trainer said 'he's a tough gundog let him walk in it' so she did, I wish he hadn't said that because the hail really hurt me :(

Here's me and Willow having a break at lunchtime when Mum and Auntie Katie had their sandwiches (we shared them too of course)

Another car picture, it was lovely and warm in there and very comfy as Auntie Katie has snuggly blankets in there. (take note mum!)

We did lots of dummy training, I was in the beginners class and Willow was in the Improvers class as her mum has done lots of training with her so she knew what she was doing. The beginners class had a test and Mum was very proud because I came third

We had a great time, thank you Auntie Katie for driving us there, this is me snuggled up in the car on the way home zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
