Fritham, New Forest

Had a bit of a surprise today, Mum and Dad were off of work and they took us to Fritham in the New Forest.
It was pretty damp, foggy and cold but we didnt care.
We were going to do the walk we do when we have a Viz Whiz BUT Mum n Dad (well Mum mainly) got us a bit lost, we walked for ages and ages (2 hours). We had a lovely time exloring everywhere. Eventually we found the path back to the car.
Winston's leg is back to normal now so that was good, however he can get very obsessive over sticks, the small ones are fine but then he picks up bigger and bigger ones until they are so big he can't carry them far and then drops them and starts whining and barking in frustration. Mum refuses to carry them for him which I think is a bit mean of her, she has to put him on the lead at this point. He is funny though because as soon as Mum shows him the lead he leaves the stick and comes running to her to have the lead put on - weird eh?

Southsea, Portsmouth

Winston has a poorly leg at the moment so is confined to home and short lead walks only. We're both pretty fed up about it as me and him usually have so much fun together on our walks so Mum took me somewhere different whilst Dad stayed at home with Winston and had some quality one to one time with him.

Mum n me went to Southsea, Portsmouth, quite near us. We walked along the prom, I wasnt too keen at first as I was on the lead and there were quite a few people but then we got to some open green space where I could go off lead and run and run. I chased birds and all sorts. Lots of people stopped and watched me on Southsea Common, Mum said she should have passed a hat round for donations from them for watching me 'perform' in true Vizsla pointing style. I loved chasing the crows on the Common.

I've done a smilebox of our fun.

Us Vizsla are everywhere!

Dad went out for his work's Christmas do last night (we weren't allowed to go, umph!!). He went into a pub and said this lovely 8 year old Vizsla came running straight over to him to say hello. The owner was very surprised at this until Dad explained that he also had a Vizsla and the dog must have smelt me on him! So us Vizsla must have our own distinctive breed smell!!!
I do have one question though Dad, why wasn't I allowed to go..... it's not fair as it was obviously a doggy friendly bar and I could have made a new friend - maybe next time then????
Here is a picture of the gorgeous chap:

Early morning drama!

As you know Mum takes us up the woods really early (6.15am) when it's still dark. Usually it's really quiet and nobody is up there, it's a lovely time to walk.

Well yesterday we were walking along when we heard this really loud laughing and shouting, Mum stopped dead in her tracks, then we spotted some 'naughty' people had lit a big bonfire in the woods and were messing around and were having some sort of party. Who on earth does that at that time in the morning, especially when it was -4 degrees..........

Mum tried to call the fire brigade from her mobile phone as the fire was really quite big and she was cross as if it got out of control it would ruin the lovely woods. Unfortunately her mobile didnt work.

So we started running home, well I say 'we', it was me and Mum that were running, I knew it was important as Mum NEVER runs, Winston bless him was more concerned about the stick he was carrying so took an easier pace behind us.

We got home and mum called the fire brigade, but because the woods are pretty big and it's difficult to describe where the fire was Mum said she would run back up the woods and meet the firemen. We left Winston at home as it was all too much excitement for him and me and mum can run a lot faster, well I can anyway Mum's not so good with the whole running thing!

We met the fire engine, big red thing with its blue lights flashing, it was all rather exciting for me as I'd not been that close to one before. I said hello to all the firemen and then showed them where the fire was, they were all really nice and friendly.

Thankfully by this time the 'naughty' people had left and the firemen very quickly had everything under control. I wanted to stay and watch but Mum said she needed a cup of tea and a sit down after all that running, honestly these humans can be really funny sometimes!

We went back up the woods today and took a photo of where the fire was, doesnt look much now but the fire was pretty big and scary

K9 Pool Funtime

Mum n Dad took us somewhere new today, the K9 swimming pool. It's lovely and warm in there and its especially for dogs. You get to play with loads of balls and stuff and you can just swim and swim. It has a shallow end with a ramp so you can climb out. Winston was brave and jumped in the deep end lots, I didn't I preferred the more sedate climbing down the ramp and then pushing off into the deep end. Here's a smilebox of the fun we had - enjoy!

Weird expressions!

Dad was armed with the camera this morning on our walk and I couldn't help put pull some weird expressions for him!

First we have my 'don't mess with me' look, I think I look particularly tough in this one:

Then Dad was trying to get a shot of me doing my pointing pose, well I did oblige but couldn't help sticking my tongue out as an added bonus, hehehehe, I am a cheeky boy:

Ok ok Dad I'll be a good boy and pose for the camera properly now, anything for a peaceful life:

I went to work today...........

Wow I've had such a cool day today, I went to work properly, I went beating on a pheasant shoot, I had so much fun and was a very good boy, Mum was very proud of me, I did what I was told.
We met up at the pub and Mum had a bacon roll which she of course shared with me.
I didnt know what to expect as I've never done anything like this before.
The first new thing was riding in the back of a tractor, we were packed in like sardines but all the dogs and humans all got on really well, see what I mean:

Because the beaters all had to stay in line us dogs stayed on the lead, the maize field was a bit tough going for Mum as she was shorter than the maize and kept getting whacked in the face by it but we flushed a few pheasant up, which the guns shot.

I wasnt bothered by the gun noise at all which Mum was relieved about. Here are some of the pheasants that didnt fly quick enough:

Then we got back on the tractor again and drove to another spot, I made myself comfortable on a lovely ladies lap

Then it was lunchtime, I had a couple of dog biscuits but was more interested in having a nap, just as well as I didnt realise we were heading back out after lunch too!

There was quite a bit of waiting around as well as all the beating, here's me just kicking back and chillin', well I am a vizsla after all........

The farmer's dog Freddie was very clever as he can drive the tractor too!!!

On the last bit we were all let off the lead, I was really good and didnt go out of Mum's sight, I flushed a couple of pheasants up and everybody started shouting LOOK UP, I'd done my job :)

The Farmer gave me (well Mum) a brace of pheasants to take home as a thank you for helping, I would have done it for free as it was sooooooooo much fun.
Thanks Mum for a great day,and a big thank you to Mum's friend Lynne and her lovely dog Maddie for telling her all about it and inviting us along, I'm going for a very long sleep now!

Writing my blog

This is me n Mum writing my blog, 'what shall we write today Mum?'

Me just proof reading the post before we publish it. We also spend lots of time reading about the antics of all my other blog Vizsla mates, we really love reading about what the gingers get up to from all around the world. Great catching up with all the gossip!

Some pictures to share

Just a couple of pictures to share with you, just standard things in a Vizsla's day

This is me doing my best mad vizla eyes:

A new piece of agility equipment, the ladder, I just wanted to get up and see what Mum was doing to the shed roof, we certainly are agile dogs

Mum is studying loads at the moment so me n Winston help her out, I keep her feet nice and warm and Winston helpfully (??) rests his head on her study book:

New Forest Viz Whiz - Fritham

Well me n mum had another fantastic Viz Whiz, this time at Fritham. Think there were around 35 Vizsla this time, rough count as of course we are not renowned for keeping still for long. Here's a smilebox of our walk, enjoy.
Lovely to see everyone again, we can't wait for the next one.

Boring saturday

I was doing my best 'I'm being neglected' look on Saturday, Mum was really busy in the garden ALL day (well inbetween taking me for long walks but I still made her feel guilty)
She was digging loads so I helpfully laid down on top of the pile of dirt so she had to stop for a while and make a fuss of me.

Then the new shed panels needed painting so once again I gave that real mistreated Vizsla look. Mum did say that if I was a good boy there would be a nice treat on Sunday, more of that in the next post.............

The Typical Vizsla Pose

Me just being me, what's not to love.................

Winston is far more elegent when he lays down of course, he hasnt quite mastered the Vizsla upside down sprawling pose.

Baking cakes

Ok so we're not strictly speaking baking cakes, even I realise that is probably beyond the realms of possibility even for a Vizsla. However................ we were able to help with the clean up today after Mum made a cake.

Mum has asked me to point out that this is not normally allowed and that the bowl was fully sterilised after we 'pre-washed' it. I don't see why she wants me to make that clear but she said nobody would eat one of her cakes again if they saw what we did, really she worries too much I think.

Blackberry Picking

I love this time of year as the blackberrys come out up the woods and we get to pick our own. I'm a very health conscious Vizsla and make sure I have plenty of fruit and veg! What amazes mum is that I only pick the ripe ones, well durr mum of course they are the sweetest!

Hayling Island

Yes I know it's bank holiday and that usually means a lay in, but not today as it was low tide at 7am so we were woken up early and taken to Hayling Island, well worth the early start:

Supervising the humans!

It's a tough job supervising these humans and keeping them under control you know. Dad and Connor were digging up tree stumps, we just had to keep an eye on them to make sure they were doing it properly. (although Winston did give up and went to sleep instead)
