The Holt, Rowlands Castle

Dad took us to a new place today, The Holt at Rowlands Castle, we had a proper explore and run around. I flushed bunnies, pheasants and deer. Winston found loads of lovely sticks to drag along too.

This is Mum's favourite picture of me, kind of sums up how much fun we had!

Havant Thicket

Mum took us to Havant Thicket today. The weather was lovely and sunny and really quite warm.

Our walks are a bit different now as Mum makes me practise all my gundog training homework, it's really good fun and I enjoy it. Winston does some of the training too, he is much steadier than me with the obedience stuff so Mum says he's a good influence on me.

Here's us practising our sit and waits, we've got this one nailed.

My recall has always been really good but we still practise it loads, here's me on my way back to Mum.

We did have a bit of drama whilst we were up the thicket though. We'd seen a couple of policemen walking around and also a couple of policemen on pushbikes. Then the police helicopter turned up, it was circling overhead for ages. Then Mum started to get paranoid as it was following us. It came in really low and close, me and Winston stopped and had a good look at it despite the noise it was making. Then it started sweeping over the woods next to the path, Mum decided it was probably best that we moved away from that area pretty quickly as somebody must have been up to no good.

We found out later that the police were looking for two boys who had set fire to part of the thicket.

We had big snoozes in our favourite sun trap in the kitchen when we got home.

Field Trial Fun Day

Had a great fun time today, me and my girlfriend Willow (swoon swoon) went to a Field Trial Fun Day at West Meon.

When we arrived we raced round the field like complete loonies, we love running together.

There were loads of HPRs there but mainly Weimaraners as it was organised by their club but there were quite a few Vizzies, GSP, Spinones and Braccos.

The weather was ok to start with but we did get quite a few rain showers and just at the end there was a horrid hail storm, we were right out in the middle of the field so nowhere to hide, mum did stand over me but the trainer said 'he's a tough gundog let him walk in it' so she did, I wish he hadn't said that because the hail really hurt me :(

Here's me and Willow having a break at lunchtime when Mum and Auntie Katie had their sandwiches (we shared them too of course)

Another car picture, it was lovely and warm in there and very comfy as Auntie Katie has snuggly blankets in there. (take note mum!)

We did lots of dummy training, I was in the beginners class and Willow was in the Improvers class as her mum has done lots of training with her so she knew what she was doing. The beginners class had a test and Mum was very proud because I came third

We had a great time, thank you Auntie Katie for driving us there, this is me snuggled up in the car on the way home zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Uh Oh I'm in trouble now!

Mum's not very happy with me right now, I did the ultimate dog thing and rolled in some really smelly fox poo. I was more black than ginger and according to Mum I smelled DISGUSTING!! I don't see what the problem is, these humans can be so weird sometimes.
The end result was a pre-wash with tomato sauce

Followed by a wash with shampoo

Then a big scrubbing session

Followed by a rinse with the watering can

Then of course me hurtling round the garden like a complete loon because I was all wet

The worst of the stink has gone but I've still been banished to my bed.

Mum put clean bedding in my bedthis morning and is moaning as she'll have to change it again now. Well if you're going to be in trouble you might as well make it really BIG trouble to make it all worthwhile, that's my philosophy.

Grandma and Grandad came to visit

My Grandma and Grandad came to see me today (well I think they came to see Mum and Dad too, but mainly ME and Winston)
I played a tug game with Grandma and then had big cuddles and kisses with both her and Grandad.
Wasnt going to let go of my toy or ball though not even for cuddles!!

Last shoot of the season

Today was the last shoot of the season and it turned out to be such a beautiful warm day, the best day we've had with the weather.
I worked really hard and was pretty exhausted by the time we finished.
Mum said we can start again in October but that AGES away :-(. She did say something about me having some proper gundog training in the meantime, personally I think its mum that needs the training, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm supposed to do, flush the birds and then pick them up when they are shot and take them back to Mum to carry!

Clean car.................?

Mum thought it would be a good idea to clean the inside of the car out the other day as it was pretty muddy and stinky from all our adventures.

I think she may be regretting this decision judging by the state of our darling Winston below.

It's not his fault, he's a Labrador and that's what they do, the muddier the puddle the better and above all he was enjoying himself!!!!
